 Do you charge a setup fee?No. We cherish each and every customer and do not want to keep anyone from using our service by imposing such a charge. Can I pay monthly?Yes. Minimum contracts are not required. We believe in the quality of our service and are confident that you'll stay with us without the need of any longterm contracts. Do you have a money back guarantee?Yes, you can get your money back up to 30 days after we received your first payment. No questions asked. Note: Charges for domains are excluded from this offer, since we cannot reverse any domain registration, which prevents us from recovering our own investment. What is Instant Activation?Instant Activation means you can use your account 1 to 10 minutes after signing up. With us you don't have to wait for hours or even days. Note: Due to frequent abuse this feature is currently disabled. We plan on reinstating Instant Activation as soon as new fraud check procedures are in place. Is adult content restricted?Yes. Beastiality, child pornography and Incest or pages dealing with minors are not accepted. No illegal content can be hosted with us, nor can you link to it or provide information about it. Contact sales@hairyglove.com if in doubt. Can I upgrade or downgrade my account?Yes. You can change your contract with each recurring billing for FREE ! Please notify us 10 days prior to your rebill date at: sales@hairyglove.com. How much do you charge for over traffic?$1.95 per 1 Gigabyte, though with 16GB traffic allowance even with our smallest plan it is very unlikly that you ever run over your limit. We recommend switching to one of our bigger plans before you experience any traffic overage. How much is additional storage space?$1.95 per 50 Megabytes. Again - we recommend switching to a bigger plan, should you permanently need more space. Do you backup my data? When?A backup of your account data is perfomed every day. In addition a complete server backup including your account settings, MySQL data, webspace data and e-mail data is done to an off-server-location once a week. What is your connection speed?Each server is connected to a 10GB+ backbone with a full-duplex 100-Mbits Ethernet card. Connections are redundant and established by Time Warner, Verio, Cogent, Allegiance, Williams, MFN, Savvis and ELI. Note: We are not affiliated with the above mentioned backbone providers.
I own a domain. How do I use it with HairyGlove?All you have to do is change your domains DNS entries to ours. Log in to your registrars control panel or contact them by email and point the Domain Name Servers to ours. NO change of registrar will be necessary. We'll help you with this after sign up. I want to sign up, but need to have a new domain name. Can you register one?Yes, in fact we will set it up for you and spare you of dealing with any registrar issues. A charge of $15 a year applies. Note: We can only register domains ending with: .com, .net, .org or .biz If you register my domain, who will actually own it?You! We provide technical support, but ownership will always remain yours. I own my domain but I do not know who my registrar is. Can you help?Easy! Go to our startpage and type your domain name into the first box on the left. After pressing "submit" you come to a next page showing a "details" link. Press it and read information about your registrar. We'll be happy to assist you with any domain issues after you sign up. Can I host domains with "strange" endings like .da.ru or .xyz with you?Yes. Whatever domain you own, we can host it. Is it possible to host more than one domain on a single account?Yes. We can apply a techique called 'domain aliasing', which allows us to point a large number of domain names to your account. Each name can be connected to a subfolder in your home directory and then serve the Internet with individual content. Perl, PHP, Python, MySQL, FTP and e-mail would be available to all domains.
How do I receive my Emails with Outlook, Eudora, etc?Email programms like Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora and Netscape mail receive emails via a protocol called pop3 (Post Office Protocol) and send email using a protocol called smtp (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol). After signup we will send you a detailed description of how to connect to your personal mail server. We impose no limit on how often you check your mail. How do I retrieve Email with my browser?We equip each account with a fully functional webmail interface, like you might know it from hotmail or yahoo mail. You'll be able to check, compose and organize all of your emails from any browser worldwide. If you already have an account go here and click on "Webmail". Our product of choice is squirrelmail, see screenshots here. What is your attitude towards spamming?Spamming is not tolerated on our servers. Sending of unsolicitated emails from our servers would violate our Terms of Service while it would also be rude to our other clients. ImageMagick and perl GD libraries are installed to facilitate graphical manipulations. What is your PHP version?Version: 4.3.3 What is PHPAccelerator?PHPAccelerator is a Zend Engine Extension which caches compiled PHP code. Your PHP code executes up to 5 times faster because PHP scripts do not get re-compiled with every page-call. This works in the background and NO changes to your scripts are necessary. What is mod_gzip?mod_gzip is a module which compresses all text and html files for faster delivery. Download speed of websites is increased by up to 10 times. 99% of all browsers support content compression, while the remaining 1% of browsers which do not understand compression will automatically receive uncompressed content.
